A Piece of Hong Kong History
First issued in 1976 and produced by the British Royal Mint, Hong Kong's gold zodiac coins celebrate the twelve animals of the Chinese lunar calendar. From 2000, the smaller editions featured the corresponding zodiac animal on one side and Hong Kong's iconic skyline on the reverse. Minting ceased in 2025, making these original coins an increasingly limited part of Hong Kong's history.
Chantel has spent years sourcing these coins, building an extensive collection of original editions. Many years are now difficult to find, with certain medallions sold out and available only by enquiry or waitlist.
